It's Franklin Week! Volleyball plays Tuesday at Franklin. 9th and JV are at 5:30; Varsity plays at 6:30. The district championship is on the line, so everyone show up and be loud! The spirit days this week are Wednesday: Paint the Cougars Pink!; Thursday: Sock it to Franklin (crazy sock day); Friday: Outclass Franklin! (preppy). The football game isSaturday at 10 a.m. at the Sun Bowl. Tickets are available in the Business Office.
The Spirit Rally is Friday at 12:15. Part of the spirit rally will be a Chin-Up Challenge against Franklin. Any student is welcome to take part! We have 2 hours tomorrow beginning at the spirit rally to accumulate as many chin ups as possible. Go T-Birds! Beat the Cougars!
B-WARM!! The blanket drive kicks off with a class competition at the Spirit Rally on Friday at 12:15. The class that brings the most blankets wins a donation from the Braden Aboud Foundation.

Congratulations go out to the Coronado HS Percussion for earning Outstanding Drum Line and taking First Place at the 2014 Socorro ISD Percussion Invitational. The group is under the direction of Head Band Director, Mark Saenz and Assistant Band Directors Daniel Holmes and Jessica Shin. This event took place on Wednesday, October 15, 2014 at Socorro High School Stadium and featured 14 percussion ensembles from El f
Paso, Socorro and Ysleta ISD.
Coronado Advanced Dance Co. presents: ELEMENTS Thursday Oct. 23rd and Friday Oct. 24th at 7pm in the Fine Arts Auditorium. Tickets are $5 general seating or $8 for priority on stage seating with the dancers. Come be a part of this 360 degree dance experience. All proceeds will go towards assisting in the completion of a dance room granted by the El Paso Community Foundation.
The Thunderbird Herd cross country team will take on the trails at the Chamizal this Saturday as they will run in the District 1-6A championships.They should run about 1:00.See you there.

The girls placed 2nd while the boys were 8th at the SISD Invitational Swim Meet Friday and Saturday. This was the 1st meet of the season. Outstanding swimmers for Coronado included Senior Captains Ximena Lopez and Austin Crossland, Juniors Arabella Delgado and Karen Arias, and Freshmen Rose Barakat and Jacob Thyfault.
Great meet Saturday by our open girls cross country team. The girls placed 2nd at the District 1-6A championships. The team was led by Jensen Springer, Jena Mrochek, Andrea Gandara, Kate Davis and Jojo Ruenn. Open boys were 4th with Andres Madrigal, Krishn Tahiliani, Chris Hernandez, Diego Meneses and Jovanni Stubbs leading the way. Max Raulston was 9th in the 9th boys race to pick up a medal.
The Japanese Club is selling snacks after school. They are available in D-7 beginning at 4:20.
Would you like to recognize a teacher, counselor or staff member for doing a great job? Nominate him or her for the EPISD Badge of Honor. This is a new award presented monthly by the district. Nomination forms are available in the library, E Building Office, Reception in A, and in the Attendance Office.

A nice improvement was turned in by the Thunderbird Herd cross country teams. The boys were led to an 8th place finish with Osman Reyes placing 14th and Ryan Solórzano in 16th.The girls ran well and were led by Kristina Flores and Rachel Schlinke. The Herd will host the Kendall Kidd Invitational Saturday, here on campus.

Today is the last day for schedule changes - Freshman students will see freshman counselors for schedule changes - schedule change form is not required for 9th graders.
If you are in grades 10-12 be sure to submit your request for schedule changes by using the schedule change form. Leave the form in the Counseling Center and your counselor will call you to discuss your schedule changes. Students can drop off schedule change forms in the morning, during lunch or after school. A good job was turned in by the Thunderbird Herd cross country team this past Saturday. The girls were led by Kelli Kirkpatrick and Kristina Flores. The boys were led by Osman Reyes and Ryan Solorzano. Freshman Karla Rodriguez earned a medal in the girls open division.
Congratulations to the Volleyball team for winning the Arlington Invitational this weekend.
On Friday let's Double-Team the Rebels! Dress as twins and wish the football team good luck against Midland Lee. The game is Friday at Grande Communications Stadium in Midland. Kickoff is at 7 p.m. CST.

Tomorrow, Wednesday September 3rd is the last day for schedule changes - Freshman students will see freshman counselors for schedule changes - schedule change form is not required for 9th graders.
If you are in grades 10-12 be sure to submit your request for schedule changes by using the schedule change form. Leave the form in the Counseling Center and your counselor will call you to discuss your schedule changes. Students can drop off schedule change forms in the morning, during lunch or after school. Do not go to the counseling center during your class time.

If you are a Junior or Senior and are interested in attending informational sessions from the visiting Universities, please go by the Counseling center in A building and sign up. You must have a pass to attend the sessions. Attendance will be taken during the sessions.

It's Franklin Week! Volleyball plays Tuesday at Franklin. 9th and JV are at 5:30; Varsity plays at 6:30. The district championship is on the line, so everyone show up and be loud! Congratulations go out to the Coronado HS Percussion for earning Outstanding Drum Line and taking First Place at the 2014 Socorro ISD Percussion Invitational. The group is under the direction of Head Band Director, Mark Saenz and Assistant Band Directors Daniel Holmes and Jessica Shin. This event took place on Wednesday, October 15, 2014 at Socorro High School Stadium and featured 14 percussion ensembles from El f
Paso, Socorro and Ysleta ISD.
Coronado Advanced Dance Co. presents: ELEMENTS Thursday Oct. 23rd and Friday Oct. 24th at 7pm in the Fine Arts Auditorium. Tickets are $5 general seating or $8 for priority on stage seating with the dancers. Come be a part of this 360 degree dance experience. All proceeds will go towards assisting in the completion of a dance room granted by the El Paso Community Foundation.

The girls placed 2nd while the boys were 8th at the SISD Invitational Swim Meet Friday and Saturday. This was the 1st meet of the season. Outstanding swimmers for Coronado included Senior Captains Ximena Lopez and Austin Crossland, Juniors Arabella Delgado and Karen Arias, and Freshmen Rose Barakat and Jacob Thyfault.
Great meet Saturday by our open girls cross country team. The girls placed 2nd at the District 1-6A championships. The team was led by Jensen Springer, Jena Mrochek, Andrea Gandara, Kate Davis and Jojo Ruenn. Open boys were 4th with Andres Madrigal, Krishn Tahiliani, Chris Hernandez, Diego Meneses and Jovanni Stubbs leading the way. Max Raulston was 9th in the 9th boys race to pick up a medal.
The Japanese Club is selling snacks after school. They are available in D-7 beginning at 4:20.

Let's Outsmart Permian! Friday is nerd day. The football game is in Odessa at 7:00 p.m. Central Time.
Volleyball takes on Montwood at CHS on Friday. JV starts at 5:30; Varsity plays at 6:30.
Congratulations to the 2014 Homecoming Court. Court members are Freshman Princess: Madison Schlosser; Sophomore Princess Brittany Baffert; Junior Princess: Emily Tavizon; Senior Royalty: Valeria Carrillo, Michelle Chan, Monica Herrera, and Victoria Steadman. The Queen will be announced at the Homecoming Spirit Rally on October 10.
Student Council meets on Tuesday, 9/23. Check the board outside Student Activities Office for meeting rooms.
Japanese Club will have our meeting on Wednesday, September 24 at 3:55 in D7. We will select the officers in the meeting.

Homecoming Week is October 6-11. Dance tickets go on sale September 30.

A nice improvement was turned in by the Thunderbird Herd cross country teams. The boys were led to an 8th place finish with Osman Reyes placing 14th and Ryan Solórzano in 16th.The girls ran well and were led by Kristina Flores and Rachel Schlinke. The Herd will host the Kendall Kidd Invitational Saturday, here on campus.

The first Student Council meeting will be Tuesday, September 9 during lunch. The A-lunch meeting will take place in the speech auditorium (B-1) and the B-lunch meeting will be in the small gym. All students are welcome in Student Council and it's not too late to join.

EPISD Athletic Passes are available for purchase from the Business Office. All full time employees are able to purchase two passes for $20 each. Passes are good for all regular season athletic events played at an EPISD facility. This also includes the Westside Bowl at the Sun Bowl. Please stop by the Business Office to purchase your pass.
